Chasing History Radio: 1804 US Travel Guide

from Chasing History Radio

In this episode, we explore a book that was written in 1804 with the descriptions of each of the 15 US states (it's 1804) and several selected countries. These books are really interesting because they worked as proto travel guides. As new immigrants were coming to the US, books like this one were very influential in where these new immigrants would settle. These books laid out the description of the state, some statistical data, the geography, climate and even the temper and manner of the inhabitants. Since we are located in East Tennessee, we choose to focus on that state and what we found out about our state in 1804 was jaw dropping!    Please help us out by leaving a comment and sharing our show with others!    Don't forget to Subscribe, Comment & leave us a rating and review. We also have a YouTube Channel "Chasing History" where we take you into the field with the men & women who discover history!

Barnum. Some laws teach the need for prudence (“Law 1: Never Outshine the Master”), others teach the value of confidence (“Law 28: Enter Action with Boldness”), and many recommend absolute self-preservation (“Law 15: Crush Your Enemy Totally”).
