CHAT - EP 18 (Fertility, Cancer & Kaia)

This is the first CHAT Podcast since early 2022 and it is my most personal one so far. This Podcast tells the story of the challenges that my wife and I faced with bringing a child into the world. In 2018, we were told that we would never have kids naturally and that IVF would be our only option. I had some health issues after that and was told that my chances of becoming a father were basically non-existent. In 2020, after further investigations into why I was infertile I was diagnosed with a 5 inch tumour in my left kidney, which was cancerous. I had my left kidney removed. This tumour was the reason for my infertility. This Podcast chronicles the most challenging period of my life. From infertility, cancer, failed cycles of IVF, miscarriage, and the shame, guilt and anxiety that I experienced throughout this time. We were told we would never have kids naturally, but we did. I want to share our story with you as I know that a lot of people will have gone through the same experiences that we did, and I want to raise awareness of these issues, as well as encouraging people to take every step necessary to remain healthy and to hopefully start a family of their own.
