You know what I found out today? If ChatGPT doesn't know what you're asking it to write about, it just makes shit up. This is amazing. I'm kind of grateful I know that because I'm working on this program for tomorrow night and I needed some information and I was also working on another program and I needed some information and I went to ChatGPT.
Now understand, I don't have the paid version. Oh, hi everybody, welcome to Daily Grateful. My name is Michael Kroos and I'm here, damn it, I'm here to talk about gratitude and how much I like all this stuff and I love new technology. So I asked ChatGPT, here's an example, I did this a while ago.
Every year on Memorial Day, I take part of, I have for the last 30 plus years, an event at the Dunedin Memorial Stadium. I retired from it last year. Last year was my last year doing it. I'll probably go back this year.
I don't know, we'll see. But anyway, when I was preparing something like, you know, for that and I was promoting the last one of those, I went to ChatGPT and I asked them to write a history of the Dunedin Memorial Stadium. I thought that was a good idea. Don't you think that's a good idea?
I did. Guess what? It didn't know anything. I mean, it knew stuff, but it didn't know these stuff.
And, you know, let me read a little bit. Dunedin Memorial Stadium, located in Dunedin, Florida, has a rich history, deeply intertwined with baseball. Baseball? Okay.
The stadium, originally known as Grand Field, was constructed in 1930 as a Works Progress Administration project during the Great Depression. It was initially built as a football stadium for Dunedin High School. All right, let me catch up on a few things. Dunedin High School didn't exist in the 1930s.
I mean, it just didn't exist. It wasn't there. And Grand Field is still in Dunedin, and it's always been Grand Field. It's on Douglas Avenue.
The high school is on Pinehurst Avenue. Totally far away. In 1955, the stadium underwent significant renovations to accommodate baseball during the spring training of the Milwaukee Braves. All right, Grand Field's always been a baseball field.
It's always been a baseball field. So this is a really nice story. Unfortunately, it's just not true. And I was putting together a PowerPoint for a presentation I'm giving tomorrow night at the Camp of Bay Technology Center about using AI to aid you in self-publishing a book.
All right, I thought that was a great idea. But as I look at this, you know, it has been working for me. But I got to tell you, you know the way I always made PowerPoints in the past? And I did it using ChatGPT this time.
Okay, I asked them to, you know, do a PowerPoint. And they did a PowerPoint for me. They wrote all the text. And it looks really nice.
And I don't like it. So I'm going to go back to the way. And as soon as I'm done recording this now, which will be in just a minute or so, this is going to be a short one, I'm going to go do it the way I used to do it. And that is take a yellow pad and sit down in my comfortable chair and write out what I want for each one of the slides.
Now, I am grateful for PowerPoint, even though I am terrible at it. I was at a conference in January where I was the master of ceremonies of 26 different speakers. All of them had PowerPoints. And I found out the newest craze in PowerPoints is no text in all pictures.
How about that? I like that. That's, you know what? It seemed to move, you know, well, the speakers seemed to know what they were talking about.
Maybe they would have a little tiny title down in the right-hand corner. Some of them would. But the PowerPoint was mostly pictures. And I think that's what I'm going to go for on this.
I am so grateful to learn new stuff, even though I'm an old dog. I am grateful to learn new stuff. I just truly am. So, oh well.
