CHECK YOUR HEAD Podcast: Trailer

from CHECK YOUR HEAD: Mental Help for Musicians · host Mari Fong

In 2017, we lost beloved musicians Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and Chris Cornell of Soundgarden to suicide. When this happened, I thought to myself, "How could musicians who brought me so much joy leave this world in so much pain?" Then I thought of all the others like Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, Prince, Karen Carpenter, Elvis who've passed due to mental health, addictions, or overdoses and said to myself, "Why hasn't anybody done anything about this?" The next thought was, "Well, I guess it's gotta be me." So I created The CHECK YOUR HEAD Podcast, where notable musicians and experts share their stories and solutions for mental help and addiction recovery. I’m your host, Mari Fong, a music journalist who's battled depression and anxiety, who understands the tough journey of persistence and relapse when it comes to healing and recovery. The podcast features a variety of artists such as The Lumineers, Lindsey Stirling, Fred Armisen, Jewel, David Archuleta, Seether, Amos Lee, Linda Ronstadt and more, who share their personal battles, managing and living with mood disorders and addictions, along with their own real-world solutions for recovery. I then curate top experts from around the world who share their professional solutions and how to manage your recovery to lead to the beautiful life waiting for you.So if you’re a musician, a music fan, someone who supports a loved one or personally struggling with a mood disorder or addiction, hear these honest, often surprisingly shocking, yet inspiring stories of hope, resilience and recovery on the CHECK YOUR HEAD Podcast.
