Cheetahs determined to fix errors

from Rugby · host SABC Sport

Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske says his team is its own worst enemy and that they need to learn to play for the full 80 minutes if they are to make any inroads into this year’s Super Rugby competition. Drotske’s comments came after the Cheetahs sunk to a 52-31 loss against the Crusaders….. Cheetahs captain Adriaan Strauss says his team will need to quickly fix the errors of their ways if they are to win their second game in the competition and continue to do so for the remainder of the round robin stage. Strauss said everything with their structures is right and that the players need to find the balance between playing structured rugby and expansive rugby….. Strauss says he has not yet lost hope and that the Cheetahs can still rescue themselves from the lowly 14th place on the standings with only one win from their eight matches which includes a draw…… Sharks director of rugby Jake White believes that Sharks centre Sbura Sithole has proven that he is more than able to play in Super Rugby but admitted that he still has some way to go before pushing for a place in the national team. White converted Sithole from wing to centre this year and Sithole has been able to fill the gap left by the injured Paul Jordaan. Sithole, a national team Sevens star, was rewarded with the man-of-the-match award for his efforts in the Sharks 25-12 win over the Lions on Saturday……. White also said that he was not surprised that Springbok wing Lwazi Mvovo’s move to fullback has been so successful. White believes that Mvovo will get better in the position with time….. With the Sharks still leading the South African conference and on top of the combined Super Rugby standing, White is confident that they will be able to handle whatever the Cheetahs throw at them next Saturday in Durban……Journalist: Vata Ngobeni
