Growing up in Newark, NJ Cher Ameer Akbar was always fascinated with food and cooking.  He showed talent in the kitchen a young age after learning from his mother, Debra Denise, who was a connoisseur of fine cuisine.  At the age of 11, Ameer's father purchased him a hot dog cart, and an Italian ice cart and said to him, " I will teach you how be an entrepreneur."  Ameer moved to Virginia where he was able to discover agriculture and the value of farm grown food and natural ingredient.  He eventually returned to his birthplace of New Jersey and began working in his first profession kitchen and continue to develop as a chef through his high school years.  Upon graduation, he enrolled at the French Culinary Institute where he broadened his knowledge of food.
