Chef Saves Elderly Woman from Fire | Johannesburg News

A Durban chef, Ayakha Godlwana, is hailed as a hero after bravely rescuing a 74-year-old woman from a deadly apartment fire—despite having no firefighting training. Rushing to the scene when he heard about the blaze, Godlwana entered the smoke-filled building, found the disoriented woman, and safely brought her out. Both survived unharmed, and he returned to work the same day. KIBA honored him with an award, a trophy, cap, wallet, and apron—and even presented Mrs. Teranes with a gift package. The family called him an angel, while Godlwana himself remained humble, overwhelmed by the outpouring of gratitude.
