Chelsea Eye Martinez as Sanchez Struggles | Chelsea F.C. News

Chelsea are closing in on a blockbuster move for Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, with the 33-year-old veteran reportedly set to leave after a turbulent summer. Martinez’s future at Villa is uncertain following the arrival of new keeper Zion Suzuki and his own fitness issues that sidelined him for key pre-season and the opening match. Despite a shaky performance from current keeper Robert Sanchez against Fulham, Chelsea see Martinez as the ideal solution — especially with backup Mike Penders still too raw for first-team duty. Tottenham are also in the mix, but Chelsea may strike first. In return, Villa could be open to shipping out Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson — both currently training separately — with Delap drawing interest from Nottingham Forest. This could be the final chapter in Martinez’s Villa saga — or just the beginning of a new one at Stamford Bridge.
