Chelsea Eyeing Xhaka Amid Leadership Shift

Chelsea’s new manager Xabi Alonso is reportedly pushing to bring veteran midfielder Granit Xhaka to Stamford Bridge this summer, a move that could signal a strategic shift toward leadership and experience after years of youth-focused signings. Xhaka, who captained Sunderland to a surprising seventh-place finish and Europa League qualification, has deep ties to Alonso from their Leverkusen days. While Sunderland insists Xhaka isn’t for sale and Chelsea hasn’t officially approached them, the 34-year-old’s contract and age may make him a more affordable target. If completed, this transfer could reshape Chelsea’s midfield and leadership culture — and fans will be watching closely as the window heats up.
