Chelsea’s Goalkeeper Gambit | Chelsea F.C. News

Chelsea’s long wait for goalkeeping stability ends with the £7.5m signing of Emiliano Martinez, a vocal, battle-hardened Argentinian known for his “win at all costs” mentality — exactly what their shaky defense needs. After over $1 billion spent and three keepers in as many years, Martinez steps in as the new No. 1, replacing loaned-out Sanchez and Jorgensen. With Xabi Alonso now managing and the team already conceding seven goals in three league games, the pressure is on. Martinez hasn’t yet recorded a clean sheet, but fans are hopeful he’ll finally fix Chelsea’s leaky backline and help them mount a serious title challenge — even after a recent loss to the reigning champions.
