Cheney Lake Floods Shut Down Campgrounds | Wichita News
from Wichita News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Cheney Lake’s floodwaters are still dangerously high, with releases finally starting Monday after downstream river conditions forced delays. The lake remains over four feet above normal, at more than 1,425 feet elevation. Several campgrounds — Heimerman Point, M&M, Wichita Point, and Hobie Beach — are shut down through the weekend, with all sites at Cheney State Park now booked. Park officials have erected barriers and warn against bypassing them, even with UTVs. For updates, contact the Cheney State Park office directly.
