In past 'budwa mangal mela' was organized at this place. But now that replaced to dashaswamedh ghat for some specific reason. That ghat was part of shivala ghat before its renamed as chet singh ghat by king of kashi Prabhu Narayan singh in 20th century. Kashi was Jagir of awadh Naresh. Balwant singh was jagirdar of awadh dynasty. When balwant died in 1870 his elder son chet singh became king of banaras. Balwant singh made that small fort on Ganga ghat. After his demise his son ruled over. After ten year of chet singh governance east India company first governor General varen hastings attack on banaras for expansion of company dynasty. Chet singh were great worrier fight for his land. But varen captured him in his fort. When civilian got that news that their king was captured by governor. They revolt against company and governor ran away from banaras to save his life. King and citizens celebrate their victory. But in second chance chet defeated by governor. He ran away from banaras through secret rout to gwalior. He never came back banaras. In 1810 he died in gwalior. In 20th century his ancestor Prabhu Narayan grab his dynasty and forts in his hand from company. So he renamed this ghat as chet singh ghat. There was one more story about chet singh and sage kinaram. Baba Kinaram cursed chet singh for his bad behavior. After chet singh all kings were adopted. Till then kashi Naresh family cursed finished by 11th peethadhis of aghoracharya. Reincarnation of kinaram baba. So today story end here.
