《佛說阿彌陀經》的經文陳述了淨土的依正莊嚴，也說明了持名往生的殊勝，使行者發起信願，便是「顯說」。在經文之後，附以《往生咒》，令行者業障消除，再以堅固的信願力來持咒、持名（行），以淨土三資糧畢其功於此向上一著，便是「秘宣」。顯說，則顯明所密者；秘宣，則秘傳所顯者。顯密二者，合則雙美，分亦無缺。蓮池大師的《彌陀疏鈔》中提到：「以咒附經，經得咒而彌顯。以經先咒，咒得經而愈靈。交相為用。」經咒相聯，同為修行者滅罪消愆、增福增慧、得生彼國，且正好顯示淨土持名念佛法門不思議圓通之處。 -- Hosting provided by SoundOn
