Chick Makes Zoo Happy There are many kinds of penguins. Some of them live in a very cold place called Antarctica. The Emperor penguin lives there. 世界上有很多種不同的企鵝。南極洲就有皇帝企鵝。 Mother Emperor penguins lay an egg once a year. They give the egg to the father. The father emperor penguin sits on it. He keeps it warm 24 hours a day… for 65 days! This helps the penguin chick grow inside the egg. 每一年皇帝企鵝媽媽只下一顆蛋。然後交給企鵝爸爸孵蛋65天,讓企鵝寶寶長大。 Some Emperor penguins live in a zoo. One day, workers found an egg. A baby Emperor penguin was coming! This egg was special! 動物園裡也有皇帝企鵝。有一天,工作人員找到一顆皇帝企鵝蛋,有一隻企鵝寶寶要誕生了。 The workers kept the egg warm. The chick grew safely inside the egg. Then it was ready to come out! 工作人員讓蛋保持溫暖,企鵝寶寶才能在蛋裡平安長大,準備孵化。 But the egg was too hard for the chick! The workers made a small hole in the egg. For two days, they helped the chick come out! 但是蛋殼對企鵝寶寶來說太硬了! 工作人員在蛋上鑽了一個小洞。花了兩天的時間幫助企鵝寶寶鑽出來。 The workers were very happy. Almost no Emperor penguins are born in zoos. This zoo waited 13 years for this Emperor penguin chick! 工作人員很高興,動物園整整等了13年才第一次迎接皇帝企鵝寶寶的誕生! The zoo asked everyone to pick the new baby chick's name. They picked the name "Pearl."
