Chill, Flyers Fans (PST Show #398)

from The Philadelphia Sports Table | Philly Sports News & Views · host The Philadelphia Sports Table

The Philadelphia Flyers have a winning record. They're finding ways to win games, but it doesn't seem to be enough for some of the fan base. Chill, Flyers fans...chill. This week, Kelly Hinkle from BroadStreetHockey.com and the Broad Street Hockey Radio podcast joined us to talk not only about the rabid Flyers fan base, but also some positive and negative aspects of this team on the ice. It was a great discussion! But first, we talked about the upcoming Super Bowl between the Chiefs and Buccaneers, and whether either of these teams might be the next NFL dynasty. (approx. 4:15)We then dove into some Phillies talk as Didi Gregorius was just re-signed to a 2-year deal with the team, and how this roster looks as baseball season is right around the corner. (approx. 9:50)Then we talked about how Matisse Thybulle's presence on the court has been positively impacting the Sixers since his return from a defensive standpoint. Offensively...not so much. (approx. 20:30)On our Highbrow Segment this week, we're somewhat revisiting a story about college football stars who are put in the spotlight. EA Sports is bringing back College Football after approximately 8 years of a hiatus. What might this mean for college athletes and fans in the future? (approx. 26:10)On our Lowbrow Segment this week, here in the northeast part of the U.S., it's been cold and we just got murdered by a killer snowstorm. Whether it's food, music, tv, or any kind of entertainment, we talked about our main "go-to" during this wintery time that "gets us through the season?" (approx. 32:45)What we're throwing down on the Table is an in-depth interview with Kelly Hinkle from Broad Street Hockey about this Philadelphia Flyers team and fan base. Fans are complaining even though this team, not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, is finding ways to win games. We dove into that subject as well as Travis Konecny's recent benching, the resurgence of Shayne Gostisbehere, and potential trade targets. All of this and much more on the Table this week! (approx. 42:05)
