Chilly Morning and M5 Delays

from Wake Up Sydney

Wake Up Sydney: Weather, Traffic and Trains – Wednesday 16 September 2026 Good morning, Sydney. Today’s update brings a chilly, windy and partly cloudy start across the city, with the CBD and Parramatta sitting around 11.3°C and heading for tops of 17°C. Bondi is a touch warmer early at 12.1°C, but only expected to reach 16°C, so it’s definitely a jacket-and-scarf kind of day. On the roads, drivers should take care at Mascot following a cleared two-car crash on General Holmes Drive northbound near Foreshore Road, where merging is still required. The bigger concern is at Milperra, with a multi-vehicle crash on the M5 Motorway eastbound just past Henry Lawson Drive closing two of three lanes and causing heavy traffic. Allow extra travel time and merge safely. For public transport commuters, there’s good news: Sydney Trains and Metro services are running normally, with no reported incidents or disruptions. It’s another smooth morning across the rail network. Stay warm, plan ahead, and travel safely with Wake Up Sydney.
