China’s BSN and the states role in entrepreneurship with Omer Ozden

from The Charlie Shrem Show · host UntoldStories

My guest today is my friend Omer Ozden, CEO and Founder of RockTree Captial. RockTree Capital is a pioneer in international merchant banking with expertise in cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, blockchain and technology, energy, investment, and real estate between China, North America, the Middle East, and Central. Omer is also co-founder and International Expansion Partner of UCommune, China’s largest co-working company with over 200 locations globally, Partner of DGroup, and its investment arm, DFund, one of the most active Blockchain cryptofunds in Asia, currently invested in over 70 blockchain projects, as well as International Partner of ZhenFund, China’s top Angel investment fund. Omer is an international securities lawyer and former Partner with Baker & McKenzie LLP in New York and associate with Morrison & Foerster LLP in Hong Kong. His career spans over 450 transactions totaling over $30 Billion and includes venture capital investments, initial public offerings and other transactions for such companies as NetEase, Alibaba, Baidu, New Oriental and Facebook. Omer was on the legal team that invented the Variable Interest Entity (VIE) structure, which opened up China’s internet industry to foreign investment and overseas public listings. In our discussion we cover China's Red Line Policy and how it has fostered blockchain's largest regulatory sandbox, China's BSN and their blockchain initiative, and the lack of regulatory clarity and a blockchain initiative in the United States. We also touch on the mining exodus and why it was a byproduct of the energy mandate given by the CCP to stop the curbing of energy consumption with the only exception being national priorities. We go on to discuss how RockTree helps crypto startups break into the Chinese Market by helping them navigate the regulatory barriers but more importantly helping them bootstrap their community and branding/marketing efforts within China. We finish our conversation by discussing that even though there are cultural differences between the West and the East, if we are able to see past those differences we would realize that our similarities greatly out way those differences. Please enjoy my conversation with Omer Ozden.---Bitcasino:This episode was brought to you by Bitcasino. The world's leading Bitcoin-led online casino and crypto-centric gaming destination.
