Chino Valley Firefighters Contain Lightning-Caused Fire

Send us a text and chime in!On June 14, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA), along with the Prescott Fire Department, responded to a reported vegetation fire in the area of Road 6 North in Chino Valley. Upon arrival, crews discovered a large dead cottonwood tree actively burning, believed to have been ignited by a lightning strike. The fire had also begun to spread into surrounding vegetation, including nearby piles of additional dead trees. Firefighters quickly initiated suppression efforts using brush trucks, hand tools, and chainsaws.
