Summary
On Chisme 25, I chat with Evie Prete, founder and mastermind of La Mala Mujer, a platform for mental health, personal finance and career resources, and we talk toxic relationships, PTSD and how to heal from trauma. Why does this Chisme Matter? Many people have heard of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) And it is often connected with the veterans military but they are not the only group that can experience it. Anyone who has been through any traumatic experience can develop it. Some of us have experienced toxic relationships and we don't even know that we might be showing signs that we are suffering from PTSD. It is completely normal and there are signs that will help us understand this a little better and how to overcome it and thrive after it. Evie is a first-generation college graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Her mother immigrated from Mexico and started a family in San Diego, CA where Evie was born. 29 years after her mother immigrated to this country, Evie is a successful engineer working in the commercial space exploration industry. Her story is one of constant struggle and overcoming adversity in both her career and personal life. Her goal is to help develop and advocate for other individuals who are also “first in their families” to navigate areas like, college, career development, creating generational wealth, starting a white collar job and prioritizing mental health. She is one Mala Mujer. Evie is also a dedicated athlete training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is excited to keep competing in tournaments.
