You know, life has a way of shifting on us when we least expect it. One minute everything feels steady, predictable, manageable… and then something changes. A job situation. A relationship. A health scare. A financial curve ball. Or sometimes it’s nothing dramatic — maybe it's just a slow drift where things don’t feel as solid or as right as they used to. And when life shifts, our first instinct is usually to grab onto something — anything — that feels stable. We look for answers, solutions, quick fixes, or a way to get things “back to normal.” But faith… real faith… doesn’t always work like that. Faith isn’t about keeping life from shifting. Faith is about having something that holds when it does. Hebrews 11:1 says faith is “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” That means faith has weight to it. It’s not wishful thinking. It’s not pretending everything’s fine. It’s not closing your eyes and hoping the storm passes. Faith is substance. Faith is evidence. Faith is something you can lean your weight on when the ground under you feels like it’s moving. And here’s the part we forget: Faith doesn’t grow strongest when life is calm. Faith grows strongest when life shifts. When things change, faith teaches us to trust the One who doesn’t. When life feels unstable, faith reminds us God isn’t. When circumstances move, faith anchors us to something that doesn’t. Sometimes God lets life shift so our faith can settle deeper into Him. It’s holding because He’s steady even when life isn’t. Enduring faith isn’t loud. It isn’t flashy. It isn’t dramatic. Enduring faith is quiet, steady, and stubborn. It’s the kind of faith that says, “I don’t know what’s happening right now, but I know Who’s with me.” And sometimes… that’s all you need. So today, if life has shifted on you — take a breath.
