Choosing Your Target Market

In todays show we cover the 3 questions that youneed to ask to determine how to define your target market:

1) Who are you reaching?

It's really tempting to just want to reach everyone. But with a target so nebulous, you're reach no-one!

Remember, the online space is ridiculously noisy, and without a message that is undeniably made for your target market, it will remain unheard.

When you think you have defined your target market, make it 3 to 5 times more specific!

If you feel like you are too specific, then you're probably getting there. If you're unsure, you aren't! 

2) What are their problems?

Once you know whom you are speaking to, you will be able to discover what challenges / problems they have. The very best way to find this out is by actually asking them! Imagine that!

Most people will have an array of challenges / problems. But in order to become lazer focused in your marketing, you need to pick just 1!

If you can't figure out WHO you're target market is, then sometimes it's easier to start with step 2 and decide what 1 specific problem that you will solve.

3) How will I solve that problem?

When you are able to describe peoples challenges and problems better than they can, they will automatically assume that you have the solution to their challenge / problem.
