Chris Hipkins: Leader of the House on the entrenchment provision getting removed from Three Waters
from The Sunday Session with Francesca Rudkin · host Newstalk ZB
The Government has recently announced it will remove the controversial entrenchment from Three Waters legislation. The clause would have meant any future law change would have needed 60 percent of parliament backing or a successful public referendum to come into effect. Lawyers and legal experts have deemed this provision to be undemocratic and it was subsequently removed after a week of objections. Chris Hipkins, Leader of the House, says that this entrenchment provision was a mistake and that Labour needed to own up to that. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
