Chris Hipkins on not working with NZ First, Luxon's apology and latest Roy Morgan poll

from Canterbury Mornings with John MacDonald · host Newstalk ZB

Opposition Leader Chris Hipkins says while Winston Peters performs well in some aspects of his Foreign Affairs portfolio, he would not keep him in the role if Labour were elected.  "There's parts of the job he does quite well, you've seen him up to the Pacific, he does quite a good job of schmoozing in the Pacific and strengthening New Zealand's relationships there"  "If not being racist is a key criteria, he's doing a terrible job."  Hipkins' comments come after Peters told Green MP Lawrence Xu-Nan to "Go back to his own country" in the House last week. Xu-Nan was born in China and has lived in New Zealand since 1997.  Speaking to Canterbury Mornings, the Labour leader also discussed the latest Roy Morgan poll, Labour's plan to raise the birth rate, and ACT's policy to remove disruptive students from classrooms.  LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
