EVERYONE IS SET UP BY CHRIST TO SUPERNATURALLY SUCCEED 2 Peter 1:3-4 ESV [3] His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness (everything we need for living a Godly life / like a baby, we have to grow), through the (experiential / ongoing) knowledge of him who called us to (Him) his own glory and excellence, [4] by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of (share) the divine nature (His nature), having escaped (continually) from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful (human) desire. SUCCESS IS ACHIEVED BY LEARNING TO USE THE EQUIPMENT ISSUED BY OUR CAPTAIN 2 Peter 1:5-7 ESV [5] For this very reason, make every effort to (respond / add / supply generously) supplement your faith with virtue (moral excellence), and virtue with knowledge (experiential), [6] and knowledge with self-control (fruit of the Spirit), and self-control with steadfastness (patient endurance), and steadfastness with godliness, [7] and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love (for everyone). THE BOAT IS A RESCUE BOAT...NOT A CRUISE SHIP 2 Peter 1:8-9 ESV [8] For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful (make you productive and useful) in the knowledge (experiential) of our Lord Jesus Christ. [9] For whoever lacks these qualities (or doesn’t develop) is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. AS CHRIST FOLLOWERS, WE ARE ALL IN THE SAME BOAT BUT DIFFERENT SEATS... WE HAVE ALL BEEN SET UP BY CHRIST TO SUPERNATURALLY SUCCEED... BUT SUCCESS IS ACHIEVED BY LEARNING TO USE THE EQUIPMENT OUR CAPTAIN HAS GIVEN US... AND NEVER FORGET THAT OUR CAPTAIN’S BOAT IS A RESCUE BOAT...NOT A CRUISE SHIP!
