Christ Our Prize

Foundational scripture: Philippians 3: 8-10, 14The prize is the reason for our effort, activity, or sacrifice. In other words, it is our purpose, delight, longing, goal, aim, victory, and reward. Our prize is that which we set our attention and affections on. Jesus is our goal. He is our prize. If we give ourselves to the wrong prize, we will ultimately become enslaved. In every season, there is an invitation from Jesus to more rest and freedom.We can lose everything; however, if Jesus is our prize, we will have everything. The question is, will our fear be the reason that we miss out on the invitation?There are two obstacles we face in our pursuit:Emotional – This is when we fear that in prizing Christ alone, we will lose our freedom. Freedom is when we function by design and have the right kind of limitations. When we prize Christ as the ultimate prize and goal, we live in freedom by accident.Practical – This is when we are tempted to put other things above Christ. We all worship, and our life speaks of what we worship. However, anything that we worship that is not Jesus will eat us alive.
