A woman was told she needed her husband's permission to get her tubes tied. Her story went viral, but it's not uncommon. Female sterilization declined with higher education; for example, 32.1% of women with a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) were using female sterilization for contraceptive reasons compared with 11.3% of women with a bachelor’s degree or higher.
