Christians Have Forgotten How To Fast (Lent Fasting Guide)

from The Forge with Tomas Mones-Cazon · host The Forge with Tomas Mones-Cazon

My previous video on fasting, Fast Like an Ancient Christian (Not a Modern ‘Biohack Bro’) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFnqejRdkn4&list=PLNiMDAMs3mP4hu5KJE9rnUm7h7kLLOVPk&index=22Before 1966, every Catholic was required to fast every weekday of Lent. One meal. No meat. Ages 21 to 59. No exceptions. The desert monks ate once every two to four days. Bread, salt, water. The Eastern Orthodox still fast 40 days straight with no meat, no dairy, no oil. Married men. Fathers. Workers. We give up chocolate and call it Lent.Hunger is your most constant sensation. By denying it, you exercise the will over the body in a way nothing else replicates. A cold shower lasts two minutes. A workout ends. Hunger stays with you all day, which is exactly the point. The man who says no to food for 12 hours is building the same interior muscle that says no to lust, to anger, to cowardice. There is no saint in Christian history who did not fast regularly. Christ fasted 40 days before his public ministry. The apostles wrote that certain demons are only cast out by prayer and fasting. Our Lady at Fatima warned that souls go to hell because no one prays and fasts for them. This is not optional. It is foundational to the interior life of every Christian man. I've put together 4 fasting levels for Lent, from never fasted before to the traditional black fast.
