Christine Miles on cell phone ban | The Midday Break Room w/ Roxi Fab - 7.30.26

from WURD Radio · host WURD Radio

Christine Miles is a leading educator, founder of the Philadelphia-based The Listening Path®, a scalable system for teaching listening as a foundational skill. Christine is also the author of the critically acclaimed, award-winning book What Is It Costing You NOT to Listen?, a book that highlights how poor listening breaks down relationships, hurts business bottom lines, and leads people to solve the wrong problems. In less than a month, most Philadelphia-area schools will begin classes. As they do, a growing debate continues over whether schools should ban cell phones during the school day. Another heated discussion centers on how much screen time is too much during the classroom day. According to Miles, cell phone bans and reduced screen time address only the symptoms of a much larger challenge: helping students truly listen, retain information, and engage in the learning process. Christine joined the show to give her take on whether cell phones should be banned from Philadelphia Schools.
