Welcome to Daily Bag Podcasting. My name is Tommy Israel. My mother did not give that name. I gave myself that name with the hope that I can live by stand by it.
And when it's all said and done, I live up to it. So let's get right down to him. It's Christmas weekend, you know what I'm saying? This Christmas weekend.
Funny thing about me growing up, I've never had a good Christmas like my first 10 years of growing up, which is full of tough Christmases. Tough mother just inhabit. And we didn't live in a good great area, right? We live in a place where not everybody had people which all struggle.
The people that just had more than others, which is flaunt that they had more than others. I don't know. Just the way that place was. That was Holler in the 70s, 80s.
That's just the way it was. Some families had more than others and the family had more than others. Showed you that we had more than you. And Christmas, it was no was no different.
And got good people in that community. Don't get me wrong, I got some good people. Got some good Sue. I remember sue.
The Hensons upstairs got some good people, man, that try to try to make you feel nice about them, try to make you smile on Christmas time, you know what I'm saying? No one even had much. They still try to make you smile. I didn't have much.
I was one of them kid didn't have them yet. And still I look, I look forward to each and every Christmas. I look forward to it now when everybody else was getting a dope. The race car tracks, man, I mean that was it.
As a kid, you wanted those race car tracks. That was it, man. The ones that you did the loop around, they had only ran by electricity. I didn't get that.
I didn't get that. My mother trying my best. She gave me the one that ran my back, the little one. And she just connected a couple of tracks and ran my batteries and I had my little race car.
When I went upstairs to my friend house, I went downstairs, I pulled up that little gift. You run down to your man house. I went run down there. They had everything.
They had it, they had it. I felt some kind of way in heart and I enjoyed it with them in the next year, even though I had a tough Christmas thing. Get everything that I want, but I got some things because I love each try. The next year I look forward to Christmas and the same thing would happen.
I would go down to Hakeem House, I'll go upstairs to Mike Henderson and Corey Henderson house and look at what they got. I always had the lease. But the next year, I look forward to Christmas. It didn't put me down.
It didn't. It didn't make me say, oh, you come Christmas again. Oh, man, it didn't do that to me. And it built that built something inside me.
I really believe that built some kind of character inside of me, man. Because I still look forward to the next Christmas, hoping I would get that bike that never was under the Christmas tree. That bike was never under the Christmas tree. But I go to my friend's house and he had that bike under his Christmas tree.
But the next year I will look forward to Christmas. And they built some kind of character inside of me. And no matter how down I am and how bad it gets for me, how bad it could get for me, I still look forward to tomorrow. I still look forward to next month.
I still look forward to next year. Because I know the power of tomorrow. I know the power. If you give me the next day, what can happen.
Yes, I still dream. There's been plenty of times that I've dreamed about things and I put things under my pillow and then I work hard for those things. I wasn't a child anymore. I worked hard for those things.
And I was able to. When I look under that pillow, that item that I dreamed about, I had bigger than that item. I told you one time I was dreaming about a samurai Suzuki little truckload that was these first little dope little jeeps that came out. I remember dreaming about having one.
I worked so hard, I was able to buy two of them. I didn't buy one Suzuki. I bought me a Cherokee. I'm going to know.
Jazuki. I was a toy at that time. $9,000. I wouldn't spend 20 something thousand on cheap Cherokee.
We talking about 88. I dreamed about it. I dreamed about it. So I know what the power it is.
I know. I know the power it takes. I know the power of tomorrow. You know what I'm saying?
Like I'll never get down times. I had $6 in my pocket, bro. Hungry. And I still have.
I still thought about tomorrow. When I was in that homeless shelf, you ain't see me down in that homeless shelter. I was thinking about tomorrow because I know what tomorrow can bring. I know what next week can bring.
I know what next month can bring. I know what next year can bring. I know. I know what those things can bring.
As long as you bring it, as long as you're willing to bring it, right? So I don't feel no sadness about those sad early Christmases when I can get those things, because those things don't got this confidence inside me, built this installment plan inside me that I know tomorrow can bring. I know what next year can bring. As long as I'm willing to bring it.
Are you willing to bring it? Are you really willing to bring it? Because next year's gonna come. Next Christmas is gonna come with you or without you.
New Year's is gonna come with you without you. Easter's gonna come with you without you. Your birthday's gonna come with you or without you. That time is gonna come around.
So you might as well be on your feet when you get around. You know what I'm saying? You might as well do it. You're not a child no more.
Wrap your own gifts now, you know what I'm saying? Make your own tomorrow. Smile. It's all up to you.
Without going. My name is Tommy. Adrian. This is the Daily Bag Podcast.
Yeah, I come just digging my bag. I'm telling you to smile today. Love your family today. When it's Christmas weekend, if it's already passed, that's cool, because next Sunday ain't passed yet.
The Sunday after that ain't passed yet. Hug them, kiss and let them know you love him with that, I.
