Christmas Calls You to Glory: Day 3, God With Us
from Pastor Steve’s Daily Devotionals · host Village Church RVA
Christmas Calls You to Glory Day 3: God With Us Devotional Loneliness can feel especially sharp during the Christmas season. Whether you’re physically alone or surrounded by people but feeling disconnected, the ache of isolation can make the holidays difficult. Social media doesn’t help, showing us everyone else’s seemingly perfect gatherings while we struggle. But Christmas brings the most profound answer to human loneliness ever offered: Immanuel - God with us. This isn’t just a beautiful name; it’s a revolutionary reality. The eternal God, governs the universe, chose to enter our world as a vulnerable baby. He didn’t remain distant or detached. He came close. Jesus didn’t grow into His deity or earn His divine nature through good behavior. From the moment of His birth, He was fully God and fully human. This means that in Jesus, God understands your struggles from the inside. He knows what it feels like to be tired, disappointed, misunderstood, and even abandoned. He experienced the full range of human emotions and challenges. When you feel alone this Christmas, remember that you’re not. God hasn’t just sent you a message of encouragement from heaven - He has personally entered your world. In Jesus, you have a God who doesn’t just sympathize with your struggles but has actually experienced them Himself. The baby in the manger represents the most intimate expression of God’s love: His willingness to be with you in every season of life, including this one. Bible Verse All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” - Matthew 1:22-23 Reflection Question In what areas of your life do you most need to experience the reality that God is truly with you, and how might this change how you approach those challenges? Quote “He is the eternal Lord over heaven and earth. God the Son, the second member of the Trinity. He is God with us.” Prayer Jesus, thank You for being Immanuel - God with us. When I feel alone or forgotten, remind me that You chose to enter my world and experience life as I do. Help me to sense Your presence.
