Christmas Calls You to Mission Day 3: Living Boldly for the Gospel Devotional The wise men didn’t keep their discovery to themselves. After encountering Jesus, they returned to their homeland forever changed. Though we don’t have the details, it’s reasonable to believe they shared their incredible experience with others. Their bold journey to find the King demonstrates the kind of faith the world needs to see today. Too often, we try to live as “secret Christians,” keeping our faith private and comfortable. But there are no secret Christians in God’s kingdom—only people living boldly for their faith or people hiding their light under a bushel. The world doesn’t need to see weak, apologetic faith. It needs to see believers who are so convinced of the gospel’s truth that they’re willing to face rejection, misunderstanding, and even opposition. This doesn’t mean being obnoxious or argumentative. The wise men approached their search with wisdom and respect. But they were also determined and persistent. They didn’t let Herod’s schemes or the religious leaders’ indifference deter them from their mission. They organized their entire journey around finding Jesus, not trying to squeeze Him into their existing plans. When we truly believe the gospel is the most important news in the world, it shows in how we live. Our boldness becomes a beacon that draws others to investigate this Jesus who has so transformed our lives. Bible Verse Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. – 2 Corinthians 5:20 Reflection Question What would change in your daily interactions if you truly believed that sharing the gospel is the most loving thing you could do for someone? Quote “The world does not need to see limp wristed and weak faith. The world needs to see bold evangelists who believe the gospel enough to suffer rejection from unbelievers.” Prayer God, give me boldness to live openly for You. Help me to organize my life around my faith rather than trying to fit my faith around my life. Make me a bright light that draws others to investigate Jesus. Amen.
