Welcome to the Tweet Trends podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evette, hey girl! And you are tuned in to Tweet Trends.
It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. It's Christmas Eve, y'all. Let's get started. It is so hard to believe that today is the day before Christmas.
And I don't know where the time went. I feel like just yesterday, I was getting an email from the school saying that school was canceled for the year, and now here we are, all this time in between March and now. And I had hopes and dreams and aspirations of doing great things and getting my Christmas shopping done early. And yeah, none of it happened.
So right now, all I want for Christmas is to be able to pull it all back together and make this mad dash for 2021 and see if I can't make that a better year than what I ended up doing as far as my to-do list for this year. Now, I know some people out there, all they want for Christmas, is a stimulus package underneath their tree. And undoubtedly, there's a lot of debate about how big that package should be. Unfortunately, the GOP says, I don't think it should be $2,000 worth.
Not that big of a package. So we'll see. Things are looking kind of grim. And it's something about the holiday season that just makes people want to do for others.
They want to buy gifts and show how much they love and care for other people. And I get it and I understand. And this is like the one time of year that people will go out on a limb. They'll step out on faith and be like, you know what?
I probably shouldn't, but I'm going to buy these gifts and we're going to figure it out in the new year. You know, whether it goes on a credit card and sits there and so something you paid $5 or ends up being 50 by the time you finished paying off your bill or, you know, you take the money out of your account and then you rob Peter to pay Paul, you know, you pay a little bit on the light bill and a little bit on this other bill to then go and get your layaways off only to then struggle with the idea of getting back on track with your utilities and praying that they will not shut them off. Personally, I'm not a gambler when it comes to stuff like that. I like to know that my lights are going to come on when I flip the switch and that the heat is going to be coming out of the vents continuously.
So I would be one that would say, hey guys, I'm going to need you to look at this plate of food and I'm going to slap a bow on top and tell you Merry Christmas and I'm going to have to get you a coming birthday time and make up for what I didn't do for Christmas time. Something like that. We have to come to some type of agreement to understand that I still love you. I just cannot do what I would like to do at this time.
Now where I am a gambler would be in the kitchen. Yes. There was a time when I referred to all of my meals as science experiments. It was always an experiment and I think it used to get under my husband's skin that that is how I would refer to the food that I was feeding him that it was always some type of crazy experiment.
But I mean, I would play around with ingredients. I would substitute one thing for another and it wasn't because I was trying to be fancy. It was because I didn't have what I needed, didn't plan well for it and therefore the meal is partway cooked and I need onions and I have no onions. So now I'm trying to figure out, what do I have that could possibly take the place of onions?
Maybe the ginger from the sushi. You know, that looks about the right color. No, seriously, it's not that bad. It's not that bad.
But I would go and look up, you know, what can I substitute for this in a recipe because I just, I struggle with planning when it comes to that sort of thing. So it only makes sense that my Christmas plans would be just all over the place because that's one thing I do struggle with. I struggle with planning. But because I know and I understand where my struggles are, I know that I can do better.
So my question to you is, have you come to grips the true reality of the situation and can say beyond the shadow of doubt what you struggle with? And then on top of that, look at it in terms of now, how do I make the situation better? How do I come from that struggle and then turn it into a strength? So I told you about one of my struggles.
Let me tell you about my true strength. My true strength in my opinion is being crafty. I love doing crafty things. It makes me feel happy, kind of like when I'm here on Tweet Trends.
I feel happy when I'm talking to you guys and it's sad because I'm technically in a room all by myself. But just knowing that there are people out here that are hearing my voice and that are engaging in the conversation, that's what I need. You give me that extra little warmth that I need to get through my week and I appreciate that. But that to my strength.
So for the rest of my Christmas Eve, what we will be doing, we're going to be making some gingerbread houses and I could not tell my daughter about it because if I did, we would have been talking about it on the hour, every hour until it happened. So I haven't even told her yet, but I did get the stuff and then I realized that I did not get the royal icing that I need to get the house to stick together. So I might be improvising and creating a type of science project in relation to these gingerbread houses, but that's okay because it's not about how perfect your gingerbread house is. It's about how much fun you had putting the thing together and decorating it.
So we're going to do that. We've got plans for Christmas movies and my husband already fried the turkey because we think the weather's going to be bad tomorrow. So got that knocked out. I'm going to do some chewies.
If you have not had chewies before, I don't know. I think it's a southern thing. But chewies are the bomb.com. So I'm going to be making the chewies and a couple of other dishes for tomorrow that we don't want to wait around to do tomorrow because that just makes for a whole day full of work and toil in the kitchen and nobody got time for that.
So I don't know what's on your to-do list, but my hope and my prayer for you is that you have the most amazing Christmas Eve and an even better Christmas day and the days leading out from it into 2021. I realized that today we were just tooling our thumbs and flapping our gums, but the bottom line of my message for you today is this is a busy season. There's a lot of stuff going on, but you know what? If you didn't get everything checked off of your to-do list, it's okay.
It's okay. That's what I've had to let myself know and I want to share that with you. The other thing I want to share with you is how much I appreciate you as a listener. I appreciate the fact of knowing that there's somebody out there that cares to hear what I have to say and that's interested in what day it is or what month it is, what little gems of information I have to present to you.
I really appreciate that. That is your Christmas gift to me. That's the way the G-Blesson and you may not even realize how much of a blessing it is, but it truly is and I just wanted to take this moment to say thank you. I appreciate you.
On top of that, I am looking forward to heading into this new year with lots of great new topics to talk about and little gems and tidbits to put in your ear to help you get from point eight to point B. Without dragging this out any further, let me just say this. I'm a happy Christmas Eve, a merry Christmas day and I'll see you guys after the weekend's over on that trek going into 2021. Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle All The Way.
Oh, a fun is to ride in and one hurts open sleigh. Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle All The Way. Oh, a fun is to ride in and one hurts open sleigh. Dashing through the snow and one hurts open sleigh.
Oh, the fields we go laughing all the way. Bells on Bobtail Ring, making spirit cry. But fun is to ride a sing a sleigh song in the night. Oh, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle All The Way.
Oh, a fun is to ride in once a little bit sleigh. Hey, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle All The Way. Oh, a fun is to ride in and one hurts open sleigh.
