Christmas Gifts #4 The Gift of Reconciliation

We were created for communion and fellowship with God. To love God and to be loved by God is what this life is about. But sin broke that bond leaving us adrift and estranged from God for thousands of years. With the birth of Jesus everything changed. The fourth gift from God is reconciliation with Him. 600 years earlier, the prophet Isaiah looked forward to the coming of Jesus. “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’”(Isaiah 7:14) And, For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
