"Christmas In Seventeen Seventy-six" is a short story set during the American Revolution, following young Kitty and Harry Tracy as they wait anxiously for their soldier father to come home for Christmas. With Hessian troops occupying nearby Trenton and Captain Tracy camped across the Delaware with Washington's army, the holiday feels uncertain and somber. Kitty has knitted her father a pair of woollen stockings; Harry has saved a pile of shellbarks.
