"Christmas Wishes" is a fairy tale short story in which Santa Claus grants three princes one wish each — and the results could not be more different. Spoiled young Pepin seizes control of the sun and gravity with disastrous results, while Nutcracker becomes enslaved to a luck-penny that turns him as cold and hard as copper. Only Buttons, scorned for wishing to marry a shoemaker's daughter and keep the Christmas spirit in his home, seems to have chosen wisely.
