Christopher Casazza | Case Examined: Lack of Medical Care at Detention Centers During Covid-19

from Immigration Nerds

In this week’s Erickson Immigration Group Immigration Nerds podcast we talk to Christopher Casazza. In late march, Pike County Detention center detainee Aldo Camacho-Lopez began feeling sick and displayed fever like symptoms, however he did not receive any medical care. On April 2, he tested positive for Covid-19. 3 days later, only after contracting pneumonia did he receive treatment at a hospital. During 2020, stories of the lack of appropriate and swift care at detention centers during Covid-19 is beginning to see a trend.  Aldo’s attorney Christopher Casazza tells the story of one of those cases, and brings better context to what is happening on a national level.
