He quit that year, only to return three years later at the SEAP Games hosted by Singapore, where he anchored the last leg of the 4x400m relay in a controversial race against the Malaysian team. Kunalan also recalls when U.K. Shyam broke his 33-year-old national record of 10.38s in the 100m in 2001.
