1932 年，他合併了內志與漢志，正式宣告沙烏地阿拉伯王國成立。當時的沙烏地仍是極其貧窮的游牧社會，主要的收入來源是麥加的朝聖者。1938 年 3 月 3 日，著名的「達曼 7 號井」噴發出了大量的原油。這口井後來持續生產了超過 45 年，累計產量達 3200 萬桶石油。隨著石油產量的暴增。
