Church & State Supporting the Sacrifice -- Aaron & Hur upholding Moses' Arms [ADS 2/5]

The battle between good and evil waged through all history is symbolised by Moses up on the hill while Joshua fights it out on the battlefield (Ex 17). These two represent Jesus Christ up in Heaven and simultaneously here on earth, among us, leading the Church Militant. Aaron and Hur upholding Moses' weary arms represent Church and State faithfully confessing Christ, that is upholding the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass -- symbolised by Moses' outstretched arms as Christ crucified. The battle ebbs and flows, has ups and downs. It is pressing hard against us now, but thanks to the great stone upon which Moses leant, the victory for good is sure. That rock is Christ -- and our altar in Holy Mass.
