Churches, Creeps, and Trump: A Night in the Dream Maze

In this episode, Shauna and I catch up on how the Halloween party went and then dive into this HUGE dream! During the dream exploration political figures come up and we discuss how to cope with difficult feelings when politics don’t go the way you plan them to.   Dream Explored: I dreamed I was in this gigantic church- it was the size of a large shopping mall. I was there with my parents, siblings, and a brother in law. I remember people at the church knew a sibling of mine. At different points in the dream, I told people who asked me about him that he was an asshole. The church had a huge library with a shelf of board games, as well as video games. I was trying to record a song at one point. My cousin was there at some point and I can’t remember what we talked about but I felt calm about it. Jack Black was at the church and was doing funny impressions- I later got him to sing songs from school of rock and told him that movie was half the reason I picked up a guitar. David from Dr. Pants was there and we chatted about music. I remember there were these creepy people walking towards us my family and me like in the movie The Devil’s Rejects. My parents and sisters ran to their car, and I ran to a car with my brother in law- it was a light maroon jeep. To start the car, we had to run and push the car initially to get it going before we could drive off- we escaped the creeps. We drove across a bridge and saw some stores and restaurants that David talked about playing a music fest in that area. I remember talking to a kid about colleges and met someone who said they knew our family when we got back to the church. At one point in the dream, I left the church to go with a family to their house. On the way, the houses were decorated for Halloween- one had stacks of fake bodies/skeletons. When we got to this family’s house, there was a ladder you had to go up to get to their front door. I was struggling to open the door because of the ladder and what appeared to be a canopy. I remember getting lost in the church multiple times. I remember going into a bathroom that looked decorated like a haunted house with lights and yellow tape on every stall. I went into a gym where kids were playing basketball. The “hotel” part of the church was quite intricate and had a Victorian aesthetic- I remember not remembering the room number we were in and wandering around the halls. I picked up some wedding cake while looking for the room. I thought if I walked down the right corridor, then I’d remember the room number.
