[English version below] Cuireann Deaglán de Bréadún inár láthair anseo buaicphointí óna ghairmré mar iriseoir. D’oibrigh sé le The Irish Times agus ina dhiaidh sin le The Irish Sun. Ar na pearsana móra a chastar orainn tá Yasser Arafat, Boris Yeltsin, Mikhail Gorbachev, Cathal Ó hEochaidh, Ian Paisley agus Brian Cowen. Le súil ghéar agus le stíl neamhchasta mar is dual dó, labhraíonn sé go hoscailte faoi dhúshláin agus faoi éachtaí an iriseora, go háirithe i gcúinsí casta cogaíochta agus coimhlinte, bíodh sé ag trácht ar ainnise riocht na dteifeach Coirdíneach ag teitheadh ó Saddam Hussein nó ar phróiseas na síochána i dTuaisceart Éireann. Foghlaimeoidh iriseoirí óga agus mic léinn chumarsáide cuid mhór uaidh faoi ghnéithe den cheird, faoi dhiongbháilteacht agus faoi ghairmiúlacht an iriseora, agus go deimhin faoi thír na hÉireann agus faoi imeachtaí an domhain mhóir sa tréimhse sin ó na 1970idí i leith a mhúnlaigh saol agus sochaí an lae inniu. Láithreoir: Seán Ó Catháin Aíonna: Íte Ní Chionnaith agus Gráinne Ní Aodha [Leagan Gaeilge thuas] In this book Deaglán de Bréadún shares his insights on the highlights of his career as a journalist with The Irish Times and later with The Irish Sun. We get to meet the big players on the international and national stage – Yasser Arafat, Boris Yeltsin, Mikhail Gorbachev, Charles Haughey, Ian Paisley and Brian Cowen. With his perceptive eye and uncluttered familiar style, he speaks openly about the challenges that face the journalist, particularly in wars and conflict zones, and demonstrates the possibilities of journalism: whether reporting on the misery of the Kurdish refugees fleeing Saddam Hussein, or the peace process in Northern Ireland. Young reporters and students of journalism and media will find much of interest here, from the tenacity and professionalism required in the field, to the comprehensive backdrop he provides to those events within the State and in the wider world from the 1970s onward that have shaped our lives in the modern era. Presenter: Seán Ó Catháin Guests: Íte Ní Chionnaith and Gráinne Ní Aodha
