It is said the two greatest discoveries of the ancient world were fire and the wheel. The farmers of North Dakota would likely agree. Their threshing machines are testament to this.In 2004, Joe Lipka and I were photographing in Pioneer Village in Crosby, North Dakota. They have a collection of vintage farming machines — barns full of them. We got to looking at all the variations of flywheels, gear boxes, and every type of wheel used in these behemoths. There was a "circular logic" that pervaded every machine — and a photographic project was born! This is the first of my Circular Logic images with many more to come in this project.Audio Commentary Circular Logic #1
