City Limits - Climate Issues in the Federal Budget?

from City Limits · host Kevin Healy, Zeb Peake, Karina Aedo-Aguilera & Leigh Ewbank

This energy week, Kevin, Zeb and Karina invite Leigh Ewbank (Climate Justice Campaigner, Friends of the Earth) on the show to discuss the government's climate inaction as reflected by last night's federal budget announcement. This includes a $51bn dollar move toward supporting the fossil fuel industry, and money set aside for natural disaster preparation and response (i.e. the consequences of climate change and not the causes). We also discuss topics relevant to Victoria, including the People's Climate Strategy launched by FOE two weeks ago to which over 1000 community members contributed. If you'd like to get involved in distibuting the People's Climate Strategy to your MP on delivery day (4th June), go to https://www.actonclimate.org.au/pcs_deliveryday to registerLink to Melbourne University's 2021 report which discusses the need to reach 0 emissons by 2035 as discussed on today's show.
