City Limits - Crisis Accommodation for the Homeless

from City Limits · host Kevin Healy, Eugenia Zoubtchenko, Howard Marosi, Tanya McColl, Gemma White

This week we're talking housing- and the affordable housing crisis is more acute than ever. We speak to Howard Morosey from Defend and Extend Public Housing about community resistance to the proposed redevelopment of public housing in Northcote. In the second half of the show we have a conversation between Tanya McColl from the Northern and Western Homelessness Networks and Gemma White from Housing for the Aged Action Group. Tanya talks about NWHN's recently released report about the dire state of crisis accomodation options for people accessing homelessness services, and their planned boycott. Gemma gives an update on HAAG's new initiative to engage with people from diverse cultural backgrounds through bilingual outreach.
