These were the rules and principles that were to guide their lives as they entered the land God promised them. God wanted justice and righteousness and respect for one another. There were rules of charity and generosity. There were rules in the kind treatment of animals and the forgiveness of debt. There were instructions to help them understand how to be men and women with the heart and character of God.
