Clair Purcell Takes Over Garland’s Farm | Montpelier News
from Montpelier News Today | 2 Min New | The Daily News Now!
Clair Purcell, a housing developer by trade, has unexpectedly become the new owner of Garland’s Farm and Garden after being drawn to its potential as a community hub for her early childhood education program. With Jeff Lafrancois stepping in as manager, she’s keeping the current team intact while planning to hire four more — including moving the floral department into the main building and transforming the old florist space into a forest school. Partnering with the Vermont Achievement Center, she’ll soon install nature play equipment and dream up a café, barbecues, and even an Aussie sausage sizzle. As Paul Garland, the longtime owner, retires after 40 years (and some health issues), he’s looking forward to spending more time with his grandchildren — leaving behind a legacy of green thumbs and loyal customers.
