Clare Could Lose Valuable Workers As Ukrainian Accommodation Contracts End

from Clare FM · host Clare FM

The number of Ukrainians living in State-provided accommodation in Clare has fallen by more than 400 over the past year, and that number is set to fall further as the Government begins to phase out hotel accommodation. Four Clare properties are due to lose their State contracts at the end of October, affecting a further 221 people. So, what does the change mean for Ukrainians who have made a home here, and are there enough supports and housing available as they move towards independent living? To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by Mariya Nikishanova, who has lived in Ennis since 2016 and is originally from Irpin, Ukraine. Photo (c) Яна Леоненко from Pexels via Canva
