Clare Employee "Terrified" After Encounter With Vehicle Driving Wrong Way On M18 Slip Road

An employee of a Clare business says she was shocked and scared after an encounter with a vehicle allegedly being driven the wrong way just off the M18 motorway this morning. Lily, who works in Ennis, says she came across a black BMW X5, with a 06 registration, reversing up the slip road at Junction 16 on the southbound carriageway near Gort shortly after 7am. She says she initially believed the driver had made a mistake, until the vehicle accelerated towards her, forcing her to reverse off the slip road. She claims the vehicle then pulled up beside her and those inside began filming the incident, but left the scene in the direction of Galway after she called the Gardaí. Lily has been telling Clare FM's Daragh Dolan that she believes people need to understand the devastating consequences this behaviour can have.
