Clare Haulier Urges Govt To Keep Excise Cuts Under Long Term Review

from Clare FM · host Clare FM

The Clare-based Deputy Vice President of the Irish Road Haulage Association says the Government needs to continue reviewing the price of fuel before phasing out excise cuts. Plans due to go before Cabinet today will see the cuts remain in place until at least November, with the hauliers fuel subsidy scheme to be extended until December. The coalition is then planning to reintroduce the carbon tax hikes in four stages between November and February. Ennis haulier Eugene Drennan has been telling Clare FM's Daragh Dolan the plans need to remain flexible given the volatile situation in the Middle East.
