Clare Samaritans Receiving A Call Every Minute From People Seeking Support

The Clare branch of the Samaritans says it’s now receiving a call every minute of every day from people seeking support. The organisation is appealing for more volunteers at its Ennis base, after its 2025 impact report revealed almost 350,000 calls were answered nationwide last year. Samaritans operates the only 24-hour emotional support helpline on the island of Ireland, open 365 days a year. Director of Clare Samaritans, Pat White, says anxiety is the main issue affecting callers.
